New Police Coordinator for Crime Stoppers

With only one week under her belt, Constable Paula Wright, Police Coordinator for Crime Stoppers of Haldimand, Norfolk and Tillsonburg (pictured left) is seen already “horsing around” as she deputizes ACE – the Norfolk County Fair mascot who was visiting the Crime Stoppers booth/display at the fair. Pictured joining in the “horseplay” is Gord Little, Chairperson for the Crime Stoppers program (right).
Crime Stoppers of Haldimand, Norfolk and Tillsonburg is pleased to welcome Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Constable Paula Wright as the new police coordinator for the program. Constable Wright comes from the Haldimand Detachment of the OPP and replaces Constable Hal Brown who returned to general platoon services after completing an almost two year assignment with the program. Constable Wright joins OPP civilian coordinator Lisa Wies in the Crime Stoppers office effective October 5, 2009.
“Crime Stoppers is excited to have Constable Paula Wright join of our crime fighting team,” states Gord Little, Chairperson for Crime Stoppers of Haldimand, Norfolk and Tillsonburg. He adds, “Constable Wright brings extensive media, community policing and school experience to the position and we look forward to working with her in the future.”
Because Crime Stoppers gives people an anonymous, confidential way of getting information to authorities without ever having to get involved as a witness, the program has proven itself time and time again. Since inception in 1988, over 9000 anonymous tips have been received through the local 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) tipsline and www.helpsolvecrime.com website. Some of these tips have assisted investigators in seizing more than $35.6 million worth of illegal narcotics, recovering over $4.9 million worth of stolen property and laying more than 5000 charges – all in the areas of Tillsonburg, Norfolk and Haldimand! Cash rewards paid to local anonymous callers to date have totalled over $245,000.
