June 7, 2010, Port Dover, ON - On Friday June 4, 2010, the Port Dover Composite School Student Crime Stoppers group blitzed downtown Port Dover with the “Lock it or Lose it” campaign. One of the founding members of this new school club - Garnet Heinrich - checks a vehicle for locked doors, closed windows and other safety concerns.
Crime Stoppers is a community based organization which provides people with an anonymous, confidential way to relay information to investigators without ever having to get involved as a witness. The program’s toll free 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) line and online webtips (www.helpsolvecrime.com) are operational 24 hours a day, seven days a week and cash rewards are offered for information that leads to an arrest or charge. Student Crime Stoppers operates under the umbrella of this organization and encourages students to contact Crime Stoppers anonymously with information about crime occurring in their school or community.
