January 16, 2009, Simcoe, Ontario - Crime Stoppers of Haldimand, Norfolk and Tillsonburg is pleased to announce that its latest promotional tool - a 2008 Ford Focus - is already busy helping to spread the Crime Stoppers message and working to “drive” crime out of our community.
“This vehicle has been decaled with our 1-800-222-TIPS number and www.helpsolvecrime.com website and acts a highly visible travelling billboard for our program,” says Gord Little, Chairperson for Crime Stoppers of Haldimand, Norfolk and Tillsonburg. He continues, “The car is a very important part of our program’s promotional plan and we want to thank sponsors Norfolk Mutual Insurance Company and Blue Star Ford for their commitment to our program and safer communities for everyone.”
Crime Stoppers is a community based organization which provides people with an anonymous, confidential way to relay information to investigators without ever having to get involved as a witness. The program’s toll free 1-800-222-TIPS line and online webtips (www.helpsolvecrime.com) are operational 24 hours a day, seven days a week and cash rewards up to $2000 are offered for information that leads to an arrest or charge.
Since inception in 1988, over 8600 anonymous tips have been received through the local program. Some of these tips have assisted investigators in seizing more than $33.5 million worth of illegal narcotics, recovering over $4.2 million worth of stolen property and laying more than 4900 charges – all in the areas of Tillsonburg, Norfolk and Haldimand! Cash rewards paid to local anonymous callers to date have totalled over $234,000.
