Crime Stoppers’ Draws “Great Grocery and Gas Giveaway” Winners 2011

November 30, 2011, Simcoe, Ontario - Crime Stoppers of Haldimand, Norfolk and Tillsonburg is pleased to announce that the grand prize winner of its “Great Grocery and Gas Giveaway” was Jody DeBoer of Cayuga. DeBoer was drawn as the grand prize winner of the raffle on November 29, 2011 at CD 98.9 FM and will receive a gift card for $1000 to be spent at Foodland/Sobeys who helped sponsor the draw.

Crime Stoppers also gave away three other prizes totaling $850. Roydon King won a $500 fuel card; Kim Wilkins was drawn the winner of a $250 Foodland/Sobeys grocery gift card and David Brotherston was awarded a $100 fuel card for fourth prize.

“We want to thank everyone who supported this fundraiser and helped Crime Stoppers to raise approximately $3000 for Crime Stoppers,” said Gord Little, Chairperson for the crime fighting program. He added, “All money raised from this fundraiser will be used locally to make communities safer for everyone.”

The Crime Stoppers program is owned by a civilian board of directors and this group of community members is responsible for fundraising all the money needed to run the crime fighting program locally. The “Great Grocery and Gas Giveaway” fundraiser is the final fundraiser for the program for the 2011 year. Other special event fundraisers include an annual gala dinner in the spring and an annual golf tournament in the summer.

Crime Stoppers of Haldimand, Norfolk and Tillsonburg is a community based organization which provides people with an anonymous, confidential way to relay information to investigators without callers ever having to get involved as a witness. The program’s toll free 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) line and online webtips (www.helpsolvecrime.com) are operational 24 hours a day, seven days a week and cash rewards up to $2000 are offered for information that leads to an arrest or charge.
