2007

Howard Yin, Owner, The Greens At Renton

Not only recognized for this financial support of the Crime Stoppers program, Howard Yin was also presented with this prestigious award because of his past service on the program’s board of directors. Originally from the Waterford area and current owner of the Greens At Renton, Yin works tirelessly to better his community by promoting the Crime Stoppers program and raising thousands of dollars to help in the fight against crime. He also works hard to support a number of other organizations in the area making Norfolk a better place to live.

2006

Dennis Howden, Owner, Haldimand Insurance Brokers

Dennis Howden hails from Caledonia and is the proud owner of Haldimand Insurance Brokers. Dennis has been a supporter of the Crime Stoppers program almost since the program’s inception in 1988. He serves as the representative for the Haldimand Insurance Brokers Association on the Crime Stoppers Golf Tournament each year, and as such has helped to raise thousands of dollars for the Crime Stoppers program. In addition, he is always looking for ways to further promote the program (in 2006 he was responsible for Crime Stoppers becoming the recipient of funds generated from a Pilot Insurance Hot Air Balloon fundraiser). He is also involved in countless community events and works tirelessly to better his community in many, many ways.

2005

Tom Stackhouse, Board of Directors, Crime Stoppers of Haldimand, Norfolk and Tillsonburg

Tom joined the board of directors for Haldimand, Norfolk and Tillsonburg Crime Stoppers in 1999 and served as the chairperson for the program’s Promotion Committee for several years. Tom was instrumental in the success of many of Crime Stoppers promotional and fundraising events and brought much expertise to the board. Tom passed away suddenly in November of 2005

2004

Barbara Howden

Barbara has worn many hats since joining the board of directors in 1993 which is one of the reasons why she was chosen as the recipient for this year’s award. Barbara has filled positions locally such as Chairperson and Treasurer and also served as the Treasurer for the Ontario Association of Crime Stoppers for several years. Under Barbara’s direction, Crime Stoppers has achieved many great things and her enthusiasm for the program is evident in any task she takes on. Barbara never hesitates to get involved in any event and has even spearheaded a few fundraisers including the Ronnie Hawkins and the Hawks fundraising concert in 2003. Barbara represents the Simcoe area on the program’s board of directors.

2003

Tom Millar

With the board since 1990, Tom brings many years of volunteer service to his role as Board Member. Active in many organizations, Tom is never hesitant to participate in any event or promotional opportunity and brings a wealth of expertise to Crime Stoppers regarding fundraising activities. Tom has been recognized locally, provincially and nationally for his dedication to volunteerism.

2002

Janice Schweder

Under the guidance of teacher Janice Schweder, Hagersville Secondary School became one of the first schools in Ontario to have a Student Crime Stoppers program in 1993. Since then, Student Crime Stoppers has continued to grow and Janice has remained dedicated to her school's student program.

2001

David Demeyere

A 10 year board member from Tillsonburg, David was a dynamic team member to Crime Stoppers until his departure from the board in December 2002. David was the driving organizational force behind many of the program's most successful fundraisers including the North Shore Big Smoke Cigar Night and Silent Auction and the annual Crime Stoppers golf tournament. 2000

Brian Galagher

Brian was a founding member of Crime Stoppers of Haldimand, Norfolk and Tillsonburg who provided much valuable direction and guidance to the program through both professional and private avenues. Brian served on the board from 1988 until 2003. (past member)

1999

Bill Snowden

Also a founding board member, Bill and the late Bill Courtnage were close friends and brought to Crime Stoppers the same values and dedication to the program. Both were true embassadors of the program. (retired member)
