Appreciation Event

Every year Crime Stoppers of Haldimand, Norfolk and Tillsonburg invites their key partners to an event of appreciation and recognition. Members of the business community, media outlets, police and other investigative agencies, volunteers and individual supporters gather to be recognized for their contributions.

These key partners help Crime Stoppers of Haldimand, Norfolk and Tillsonburg achieve the amazing statistics and ultimately help fight crime in the community through their strong, continued support of the program.

The annual Bill Courtnage Memorial Award, Law Enforcement Recognition Award and Tom Stackhouse Memorial Award are also presented at this time to people who have made outstanding contributions to Crime Stoppers of Haldimand, Norfolk and Tillsonburg in the previous year.

This years honouree's:

2009 Law Enforcement Recognition Award

Detective Constable Tammy Plummer – Ontario Provincial Police & Detective Constable Derek Bowles – Ontario Provincial Police

Both of these officers have been recognized before and work as members of their detachment’s respective “drug enforcement section.” Throughout 2009 both of these officers investigated several hundred anonymous tips and as a result of their hard work, millions of dollars worth of narcotics were taken off our streets.

2009 Bill Courtnage Memorial Award

Steve Baxter

Hailing from the Haldimand area, Steve Baxter was honored with this award because of his dedication to the Student Crime Stoppers program at McKinnon Park Secondary School since just after the new millennium. As assistant head of the English Department at MPSS, Steve Baxter also volunteers many hours to the betterment of the school through various extracurricular activities including not only Student Crime Stoppers, but also the school’s graduation and badminton program. Baxter works tirelessly to motivate his students to set goals and specific projects including community breakfasts, CPTED reviews and most recently the creation of a generic Student Crime Stoppers video which the program hopes to share with other student groups across the country.

2009 Tom Stackhouse Memorial Award

Erie Mutual Fire Insurance Company

Serving as the major sponsor for Crime Stoppers’ Annual Spring Gala, Erie Mutual Fire Insurance Company has given its financial commitment to the program for the past decade. The company also goes above and beyond the call of duty for this event and also works to include the crime fighting program into numerous community events. Erie Mutual also serves to educate the public about the crime fighting program by including correspondence to clients. Erie Mutual is constantly looking for new ways to assist the program and make communities safer for all.
