Appreciation Event

Every year Crime Stoppers of Haldimand, Norfolk and Tillsonburg invites their key partners to an event of appreciation and recognition. Members of the business community, media outlets, police and other investigative agencies, volunteers and individual supporters gather to be recognized for their contributions.

These key partners help Crime Stoppers of Haldimand, Norfolk and Tillsonburg achieve the amazing statistics and ultimately help fight crime in the community through their strong, continued support of the program.

The annual Bill Courtnage Memorial Award, Law Enforcement Recognition Award and Tom Stackhouse Memorial Award are also presented at this time to people who have made outstanding contributions to Crime Stoppers of Haldimand, Norfolk and Tillsonburg in the previous year.

This years honouree's:

2010 Law Enforcement Recognition Award

Constable Natalya McCourt, Ontario Provincial Police

Constable Natalya McCourt is a member of the Ontario Provincial Police and began her policing career in 1999. She transferred to Norfolk detachment in 2005 and has worked in various capacities including her most recent assignment as School Resource Officer. Throughout 2010, Constable McCourt could be found promoting the Student Crime Stoppers program at various activities in Waterford, Delhi, Port Dover and Valley Heights Secondary Schools. Because of her dedication to Student Crime Stoppers in 2010, this very important student program has taken a strong foothold in several schools. Constable McCourt also founded the Eclipse program which through the principals of Judo teaches self respect, confidence and discipline to local youth.

Warren Howe

Hailing from the Haldimand area, Warren Howe has been a supporter of the Crime Stoppers program for many years is usually a familiar face at many of the program’s fundraisers. His personal and business support has resulted in thousands of dollars of being raised for the Crime Stoppers program and in addition to supporting Crime Stoppers, he is also involved in many other community events and works tirelessly for the betterment his community in many ways. Howe is the owner / operator of Sundrim Golf Course.

2010 Tom Stackhouse Memorial Award

This Haldimand radio station was honored for their outstanding support of the Crime Stoppers program over the past several years. Not only does the station help promote the program on an ongoing basis, but in 2009 The Moose approached Crime Stoppers with a unique idea on how to reach their clients. The resulting initiative has become known as the “Crime Stoppers Minute” and sees crime prevention tips being aired several times daily to listeners in an attempt to make their community safer. The segment changes weekly and is designed to educate people on how to protect themselves from becoming the next victim of a crime. The “Crime Stoppers Minute” has been recognized provincially and internationally; and has even been used as a template for the creation of a partnership between one of The Moose’s north sister stations and its local Crime Stoppers program.
