Starting her career in policing in 1992, Detective Constable Tammy Plummer has worked in various avenues of the Ontario Provincial Police including general patrols, traffic enforcement and has also served with the identification and crime units of the OPP. Through this officer’s dedicated efforts to investigate anonymous tips, thousands of dollars worth of drugs have been taken off the streets. In the past, Detective Constable Plummer has also been presented with a Commissioner’s Citation Award for Bravery and the Ontario Women in Law Enforcement Award for Valour.

Howard Yin, Owner, The Greens At Renton

Not only recognized for this financial support of the Crime Stoppers program, Howard Yin was also presented with this prestigious award because of his past service on the program’s board of directors. Originally from the Waterford area and current owner of the Greens At Renton, Yin works tirelessly to better his community by promoting the Crime Stoppers program and raising thousands of dollars to help in the fight against crime. He also works hard to support a number of other organizations in the area making Norfolk a better place to live.

2007 Tom Stackhouse Memorial Award

CD 98.9 FM

CD 98.9 FM has gone above and beyond for Crime Stoppers not only in 2007, but since the program’s inception 20 years ago. The station has supported numerous Crime Stoppers events over the years including all of Crime Stoppers’ fundraisers and hundreds of dollars each month are dedicated to promoting CS as they work to educate the public about our crime fighting team on a daily basis. It is because of CD 98.9 FM’s commitment that the public has a better understanding of how the program works and how individuals can participate to help make their community safer. The support of CD 98.9 FM has not only been shown to the Crime Stoppers program, but because of the station’s community based focus, many other programs have been able to flourish in the area as well.

Every year Crime Stoppers of Haldimand, Norfolk and Tillsonburg invites their key partners to an event of appreciation and recognition. Members of the business community, media outlets, police and other investigative agencies, volunteers and individual supporters gather to be recognized for their contributions.

These key partners help Crime Stoppers of Haldimand, Norfolk and Tillsonburg achieve the amazing statistics and ultimately help fight crime in the community through their strong, continued support of the program. This year’s event not only recognized the great contributions of these supporters, but it also helped celebrate the crime fighting program’s 20th anniversary.

The annual Bill Courtnage Memorial Award, Law Enforcement Recognition Award and Tom Stackhouse Memorial Award are also presented at this time to people who have made outstanding contributions to Crime Stoppers of Haldimand, Norfolk and Tillsonburg in the previous year.
